"I have fallen arches and, as a result, weak ankles. Nothing I was doing allowed me to return to exercise without pain. These restored stability to my foot/ankle so I can move mostly pain-free. My Pilates instructor, well-acquainted with my ankle instability, marveled at how stable my ankle was while wearing. Really effective!!!"

Why We Made The Joule:

Targeted Compression, Total Freedom

The Problem:

  • Many people want the benefits of compression and support for their feet and ankles

  • Especially those experiencing plantar fasciitis pain or swelling—but traditional braces and sleeves are bulky, restrictive, and uncomfortable.

  • Cheaper compression sleeves often lose their compression quickly.

The Solution:

  • We created the Joule to provide targeted compression and support without restricting your toes and heels.

  • This ankle compression sock delivers a barefoot feel with the pain relief and stability you need.

The Joule Advantage:

  • Perfect for wearing with sandals, open-toe shoes, or inside any shoe for added support.

  • A game-changer for foot and ankle pain, including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and ankle injuries.

  • Provides relief after long days on your feet or extended periods of sitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

See All FAQ’s

How is this better than a brace or KT taping support?

The Joule is the perfect compression sock for women and men looking for support similar to KT Tape or a brace but with added benefits.

It is a plantar fasciitis sock that uses targeted compression for barefoot arch support and ankle support that improves blood flow and reduces swelling (20-30 mmHg), which taping alone doesn't provide.

Plus, the foot sleeve is more comfortable and less restrictive than taping or a brace, allowing for a full range of motion while enhancing proprioception.

Taping also needs to be applied correctly by a professional.

We are an all in one slip on support that is easier to use, less expensive, and less wasteful than taping, and a great solution if you suffer from chronic ankle sprains.

Can I wear these IN any shoes? Can I wear them with open-toed shoes or with my high heels?

YES! The Joule's open-toe and heel design makes it incredibly versatile, unlike traditional compression stockings.

You can wear it barefoot, with sandals, open-toed shoes, or inside virtually any shoe where you want extra arch and ankle support without the bulk of a traditional sock.

Many customers even wear them with high heels for added comfort and support during special occasions.

It’s perfect for adding a bit of hidden support for plantar fascia, reducing heel pain, & preventing discomfort on those long days on your feet.

How do I put these on correctly? Are these difficult to put on since they are compression socks?

Unlike our full foot sock options, there is no right or left foot for the Joule. There IS however, a right side up! Be careful to NOT wear them upside down.

How is the arch support more beneficial than orthotics alone?

While orthotics provide static support, the Joule's built-in arch support combines that lift with targeted, graduated compression, but is flexible so it allows for full range of motion of the feet which allows for the intrinsic muscles of the feet to build strength.

Wearing compression socks also provides dynamic support to improve circulation, reduce swelling. It is the combination of this support and reduction of inflammation that alleviates plantar fasciitis pain more effectively than orthotics alone.

For people with high arches, flat feet this can provide extra relief and support throughout the day.

How are these more beneficial than an ankle brace?

The Joule offers ankle support similar to an ankle brace for sprained ankles but with increased comfort and flexibility. Instead of just one level of squeeze in the entire sleeve, The Joule has targeted support in the ankle.

The targeted compression zones (20-30 mmHg) and open-toe design allow for a more natural range of motion, which helps strengthen the surrounding muscles and improve proprioception.

Plus, the Joule is less bulky than a brace, making it easier to wear with a variety of shoes. An excellent option for those recovering from an ankle injury or for ongoing support for weak ankles. You even can add a compression sleeve over it for when not in shoes.

For more serious injuries or conditions like deep vein thrombosis, consult your healthcare professional about what level of millimeters of mercury you need to ensure you have the best compression socks for your needs.

These are great to wear when you still want some barefoot contact with the floor

These are great to wear when you still want some barefoot contact with the floor. They feel good and supportive. I've worn them several times and washed them once and they have held up great. I wear a leather dance thong over them and have just the right amount of traction. I haven't worn them with my jazz shoes becuase if I put them underneath the shoes are too tight to not have the socks bunch up, and they don't really fit over easily either. Buying one pair at full price was expensive, but after they sent me a BOGO code and I picked up some different styles for a more reasonable price. Still, it's worth it to give my aging body some support so I can keep dancing for as long as possible. Made in the US is worth a few extra bucks too.

Quality is underwhelming

Every single one Apolla sock I own arrived with threads and elastic sticking out where the fabric transitions from regular to compression. Every. Single. One. So far the socks work as well as other compression socks that target the arches, but the quality is underwhelming for the price.

Thank you for the pictures and for taking time to share your feedback. Our socks are such high compression socks with a lot of fabric stuffed into a small surface area to create our energy absorption pad...so that can cause a few strands of elastic or yarn that would typically stay on the inside will pop out. This does not lessen the effectiveness of your socks. You can snip the elastics down to the sock (do not pull on them or snip the sock). These elastics popping out are not a sign of holes or lack of durability...just wear and tear that can be easily clipped if the aesthetics bother you.

Please reach out if a hole was to form, as that is very rare and we will replace them. We guarantee them up to 9 months...which is incredible for compression socks...but see customers be able to keep wearing them much, much longer. So while you may be disappointed now, we promise, the quality of our socks will prove itself over time. Stay tuned for an email with more information regarding review.

Fantastic for dance

My style of dance is mostly barefoot, and I had noticed some strain feeling in my heel. These immediately helped and my feet feel great during and after class!
