Why Customers Are Raving
I am a dance teacher with plantar fasciitis. If I knew what a difference the amp would make I would have purchased them 6 months ago. I was taping my foot but now I don’t have to.
My dancer had pain after spraining her ankles multiple times (even after acupuncture & icing and heat therapy). Since she has started wearing Apolla, her pain has gone away and she's not reinjuring herself. I am SO happy with the ease they have brought her. Seeing your kid happily dance her heart out without stress or suffering...it's priceless!
The only socks I dance and travel in. My favorite and now in more colors!!
I am a dance teacher and developed tendonitis in my ankles after an injury. It was so painful. I was teaching 15 - 20 hours of dance a week, but I started wearing the Apolla Shocks and my tendonitis got better and it gave me the support I needed to get through my classes. Since then, I have recommended the shocks to several students who also were helped by them. They are amazing!
I am a professional circus artist who uses my feet a lot in all my disciplines. These socks have completely transformed my recovery. 100 million stars.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should my dancer wear?
Apolla offers a range of dance socks, grip socks, and leg warmers designed to enhance performance, comfort, and injury risk reduction. The best choice for your dancer depends on their dance style, personal preferences, and specific needs. We also offer compression sleeves for added support when needing to have free toes and heels but wanting support. Consider looking at our curated Collections Here for suggestions, you can also sort by genre above. Here is also a good starting recommendation to consider:
To Replace a Jazz Shoe: Go with The AMP Shock OR The Alpha Half-Sole, both WITH the grip.
To Replace a Half-Dole or Turner: Go with The Alpha Half-Sole style WITH traction.
For Contemporary Class: Any style, most popular is The Performance Crew Profile WITH Traction
For Tap Shoes: The most popular is The AMP Shock NON traction or the Performance Crew Profile NON Traction. If you tap barefoot, consider The Joule barefoot profile.
For Carpet at Dance Conventions: Any NON traction style that they like, we would recommend The Performance Crew or The Infinite Mid-Calf Profile for more support and protection.
For Barefoot Dancing: The Joule barefoot sleeve
For Ballet Shoes or Pointe Shoes: The Joule barefoot sleeve
For Recovery: The Infinite Mid-Calf Profile or The Endurance Knee High Profile NON traction.
For Character Shoes or Ballroom: Consider The AMP No-Show or The Joule Barefoot Sleeve
For Hip Hop: Any full-footed compression sock profiles in NON grip.
To Add Our Patented Arch Support and Ankle Support TO ANY Dance Shoe: Use The Joule Barefoot Sleeve.
For Knee Pain or Achy Legs: Our K-Warmer was developed with the principal dancers of Boston Ballet and are amazing leg warmers that stay up, support and keep your legs happy. They pair perfect with any of our lower profiles as well, like The Joule.
Can these replace my dance shoes?
Apolla Shocks can absolutely replace dance shoes. Many dancers use our grip socks like the Alpha Shock as a better, more durable, and support alternative to jazz shoes or lyrical shoes. Our grip socks provide arch support, ankle stability, and patented grip, allowing dancers to feel the floor and move freely while reducing the risk of injuries often associated with traditional dance shoes.
However, we also can be worn WITH your dance shoes. The Joule can be added to any dance shoe to add our patented arch and ankle support. Do you prefer to dance barefoot? The Joule also allows full contact bare foot dancing while helping to reduce the risk of the number one cause of injury to dancers.
Can these be worn with pointe shoes?
The Joule style was designed with the principal dancers of Boston Ballet as our testers to be the perfect support to be worn IN or OVER pointe shoes. We do see some dancers wear our full sock profiles in pointe shoes, but that would be a personal preference and not our recommendation.
We also highly recommend slipping on The Infinite or The Endurance socks AFTER you finish pointe class to aide in more effective and efficient recovery and injury risk reduction.
Are these socks slippery?
No! Our Apolla Shock WITH grip socks are designed for control and stability. They feature a unique, patented grip that actually allows for some sliding and gliding when you need it, but also provides a secure, grounded feeling.
The grip is customizable, so you can adjust it to your preference and the specific dance surface. You'll have the freedom to move confidently, knowing you have the grip you need for turns, slides, and all your favorite moves.
It is important you purchase our WITH Traction styles and have a traction refresher for our grip to work. Learn More About Our Grip Here
Are they safe?
Apolla Socks are designed with dancer safety in mind. Our graduated compression socks and compression zone technology promote healthy blood circulation, reducing the risk of deep vein thrombosis and alleviating symptoms of plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and other common dance-related injuries. Our socks also provide ankle support similar to an ankle brace, enhancing stability and reducing the risk of ankle injuries. We use high-quality materials, and our products are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) for their quality and effectiveness.
How long do these socks last?
Apolla Socks are known for their exceptional durability, outlasting traditional dance shoes and regular socks. They are made with high-quality materials and 100% Made in the USA, we don't cut corners. They are built to withstand the demands of frequent use. On average, customers wear them multiple times before washing, and they hold their shape and compression level for much longer than standard compression stockings.
